Update to Chronos

Monday, December 12th, 2005

Okay, I have done a bit more work on Chronos and I am happy to say that it is almost at the stage that other geeky types can install it.

There are no changes in functionality; however there were a few bugs that needed to be fixed before it would actually work properly through a web server. I have also rearranged the file structure so it is easier to install and created a little utility to generate the required config files / database schema.

For more information, please see my programming section, of course full source code is included.

Seeing in stereo

I recently purchased another 17″ Benq TFT LCD monitor with the goal of doubling my productivity… Well, not really. The real reason is ’cause it is just plain cool.

This is not the first time that I have had such a setup; during my uni years I used to wow my flatmates by showing them a screen saver that moved across both my 19″ and 15″ CRT monitors. For some weird reason I gave the second screen up when I purchased my first LCD monitor.

Now the dual screen is back in all of its brilliance and I must say how incredibly useful it is. Imagine:

  • One screen for code, the other for preview;
  • One screen for Photoshop tools, the other for the design;
  • One screen for documentation while you are knee-deep in PHP.

It is something that all web developers should not be without.
